From April 19 to May 7, 2021, EMERCOM specialists will take part in the annual Week of Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships held under the auspices of the UN. The event traditionally brings together interested participants in international humanitarian activities. This year, due to the emerging epidemiological situation, the participants exchange experiences in the format of a videoconference.

As part of the event, a number of meetings and sessions relevant to the EMERCOM of Russia are being held. The most significant of these are the meeting of the Steering Committee of the United Nations International Advisory Group on Search and Rescue (INSARAG), the meeting of the working group on updating the INSARAG guidelines, the meeting of the UN Emergency Assessment and Coordination Group (UNDAC) Advisory Board, the development meeting Global Network of Crisis Management Centers (GCCS), Global Disaster Alert and Response Coordination (GDACS) Advisory Group Meeting, World Health Organization (WHO) Meeting of Emergency Medical Teams.

Representatives of the EMERCOM of Russia take part in all key events of the UN humanitarian week. Thus, a representative of the Centrospas detachment made a presentation at a specialized session dedicated to responding to the consequences of an explosion in the port of Beirut in August 2020. Russian rescuers spoke about their experience of conducting search and rescue operations in the port of Beirut, including in terms of ensuring security measures in a pandemic.

The professional community highly appreciated the approaches of the Russian Emergencies Ministry to the application of restrictive and preventive measures to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus infection during international emergency humanitarian response operations.

The participation of EMERCOM employees in the UN humanitarian week contributes to the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral international cooperation, allows them to exchange relevant information with foreign partners on the results and prospects of international activities at the expert and managerial levels. The event also helps the department to actively participate in the preparation and decision-making processes at the UN platform, including in the field of priority interaction formats (UNDAC, INSARAG, GSCC).
