Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday. This was announced by the official representative of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed al-Sahhaf.

“Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, co-chairman of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and scientific and technical cooperation, Yuri Borisov arrived in Baghdad on an official visit,” he said. On Thursday, he will hold talks with Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, who heads the Iraqi side of the intergovernmental commission. The next meeting of the IGC will also take place.

The last meeting of the bilateral commission took place in Moscow in November last year. Among the priority areas of Russian-Iraqi cooperation are projects in the field of energy, industry, trade, transport, agriculture.
