As part of a check test during the winter training period, two tactical groups of ships of the Pacific Fleet (PF) conducted combat exercises in the waters of the Sea of ​​Japan.

Ship strike groups (KUG), which included the flagship of the Pacific Fleet – the Order of Nakhimov, the guards missile cruiser “Varyag”, the modernized frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov”, the corvettes “Perfect” and “Loud”, jointly solved complex tasks of destruction by artillery fire in training ranges sea, air and coastal targets.

In the Gulf of Peter the Great, the KUG conducted an exercise to organize air defense of detachments and performed artillery fire at air targets. At the same time, the actions of the forces were controlled from the main command post of the formation.

Later, in the area of ​​the training ground on Zheltukhin Island, the crews of the ships successfully solved the task of suppressing the coastal targets of the mock enemy hidden by the terrain with artillery fire.

Another joint firing was carried out at a large artillery towed shield simulating a surface ship.

The frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” and the corvettes hit targets with the fire of the new 100-mm universal shipborne artillery mounts A-190, the GRKR “Varyag” fired from the 130-mm artillery mount AK-130. Also, to destroy mock-ups of sea mines, the ships used six-barreled 30-mm automatic artillery mounts AK-630.
