Russian exports of polypropylene to Europe increased in 2021.

Russia kept the volume of polypropylene exports in the first quarter of 2021 approximately at the last year’s level – 154.6 thousand tons against 153.8 thousand tons, but at the same time increased supplies to Europe. The leading exporter of polypropylene, as in the first quarter of 2020, was Sibur Holding, which accounts for 98% of shipments abroad.

The average price for spot lots of polypropylene for raffia in Northwest Europe in the first quarter was $ 1,900.50 / t (ddp СЗЕ). There was a noticeable shortage of product on the European PP market in February – March due to unscheduled plant shutdowns, which persisted in April, traders said.

Shipments from Russia to Europe in January – March 2021 doubled compared to the same period last year, reaching 70.8 thousand tons. Deliveries were made to 10 European countries against five – a year earlier. At the same time, Turkey remained the leader in purchases of Russian polypropylene, but at the same time, the volume of product imports from Russia to the country decreased.
