In the mountain motorized rifle formation of the Southern Military District (YuVO), stationed in Karachay-Cherkessia, the district stage of the all-army competition “Faithful friend” has started, during which dog handlers with their pets will temporarily overcome the dog-biathlon track, an obstacle course, demonstrate the skills of the service training.

About 30 counselors with service dogs from the 49th and 8th combined-arms formations, the 4th Army of the Air Force and the Air Defense of the Southern Military District take part in the competition. Service dogs are represented by the following breeds: Belgian, German, East European and Central Asian Shepherd Dogs.

Participants in six combined teams arrived from military units of Rostov and Volgograd regions, Stavropol Territory, Adygea, Crimea, as well as Karachay-Cherkessia.

On an obstacle course 300 meters long, at the command of the dog handler, a dog must overcome a ladder, barrier, fence, trench, boom and crawl under a low-tensioned net.

the three-kilometer “dog-biathlon” route will be held by counselors with a small-bore rifle, from which they will fire on two lines in a prone and standing position.

The final part will be the arrest of the “violator”, his inspection and escort, followed by protection from attack.

The best specialists of service dog breeding with their pets will represent the YuVO at the all-army competitions, which will be held at the end of June on the basis of the 470th training center of service dog breeding of the RF Armed Forces, located in the Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow region.
