In the Rostov Region, on the basis of a special forces unit of the Southern Military District (YuVO), the district stage of the “Field Kitchen” competition of the International Army Games-2021 has started.
For the first time, chefs of Rostov-on-Don restaurant chains held a master class for military specialists to improve the skill of the culinary art.
At the competition, the specialists of the food service of the Southern Military District demonstrated their professional skills in preparing the approved menu. The jury of the competition appreciated not only the cooking technique, but also the taste and aesthetic qualities of the dishes.
The culinary masters have prepared more than 10 traditional dishes of the national cuisines of the peoples of Russia, including the Don and Kuban.
In the field, the contestants prepared a meat hodgepodge, fish meatballs with baked whipped protein with rice and vegetables under hollandaise sauce, a warm appetizer – turkey with apples and prunes, cauliflower salad with beef and lemon jelly.
The chiefs of the food service prepared Leningradsky pickle and buckwheat with meat, military bakers baked bread and bakery products on a trailed bakery block PCB-04 and a bakery oven KhP-04, and used field cookers PP-40 and portable kitchens for small teams to prepare meals MK-20.
In addition to cooking, the servicemen of the Southern Military District also performed control firing exercises from an AK-74 Kalashnikov assault rifle and a Makarov pistol at the training ground and at the compound’s shooting range.
More than 100 servicemen of the Southern Military District are taking part in the competition, including chiefs of the food service of military units, military cooks trained in specialized educational institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Teams of combined-arms formations, the Black Sea Fleet, the Caspian Flotilla, the Air Force and Air Defense Army, railway troops, and logistics formations of the Southern Military District take part.
