As part of a planned check check during the winter training period, the naval tactical group consisting of small artillery ships (IAC) Volgodonsk, Astrakhan and Makhachkala of the Caspian Flotilla fired artillery fire at sea and air targets of a simulated enemy in the Caspian sea range.

According to the plan of the exercise, during the passage by sea, the ships of the Caspian Flotilla were attacked by a group of combat boats and enemy air attack weapons. The crews of the IAC organized the defense of the tactical group, carried out combat maneuvers, the distribution of targets and organized interaction with the command posts. During the training naval battle, the sailors destroyed the enemy’s naval forces and assets using anti-aircraft artillery systems, A-190 Universal, AK-306 installations, as well as anti-aircraft missile weapons, including Igla MANPADS.

In the course of performing control exercises with live firing, the crews of the IAC practiced the tasks of fire destruction of a moving target – a naval ship shield towed by the MB-58 sea tug.

The air enemy was designated by the SU-34 aircraft of the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District. The pilots set simulated air targets using the M-6 small air target.

At the next stages of the exercise in sea ranges, the IAC personnel will work out the elements of naval training, perform tasks for mine protection of the ship, as well as for the protection and defense of the ship when parked in an unprotected roadstead.

In total, more than 20 warships and support vessels of the Caspian Flotilla were involved in the delivery of the control check at sea, including the base minesweeper “Magomed Hajiyev”, the anti-sabotage boat “Junarmeets of the Caspian Sea”, artillery and landing boats.
