Investors interested in environmentally responsible allocation of funds will be able to purchase debt securities on the capital stock exchange.
Moscow, despite the difficult economic situation, does not stop its development program and continues to finance urban projects, including those aimed at improving the environment. He told about this in an interview with the program “Week in the City” on the TV channel “Russia 1” Sergei Sobyanin…
According to the concept of green bonds, recently approved In 2021, the Moscow government will finance projects to replace the capital’s bus fleet with electric buses, as well as the construction of the Big Circle Metro Line (BCL), through proceeds from the sale of securities. You can buy bonds on the Moscow Exchange. Residents of the capital who have brokerage accounts can also become investors.
Today, there are about 600 electric buses operating in the city, and from 2021 to 2023 it is planned to purchase another 1675 electric buses to transport passengers in the capital.
“In general, all mainline railway transport is ecology. Emissions from this subway or train trailer are significantly less than from a single car. Of course, this is an environmentally friendly story. Since this year, we have launched a program, according to which we are already stopping the purchase of motor-fueled buses. Probably the only ones in the world are completely switching to electric city transport. And today in Moscow, probably the largest fleet of electric buses in Europe. There are already more than 600 of them, 400 more will be added this year, there will be over a thousand already, ”said Sergei Sobyanin.
The electric bus is an environmentally friendly form of transport. By comparison, a diesel bus has an average carbon footprint of 64.9 tonnes per year and an electric bus’s 4.4 tonnes per year.
“The second direction is the subway. The bonds will be used to finance the Big Circle Metro Line, a project that will significantly improve the transport connectivity of Moscow, ”added the Mayor of Moscow.
The Big Circle Line of the Moscow Metro is the world’s largest metro construction project. The BCL will be 70 kilometers long. These are 31 stations with three electric depots (including the existing section “Kakhovskaya” – “Kashirskaya”). At the moment, the overall construction readiness of the ring is 74 percent, including 95 percent of the tunnels completed.
According to experts, thanks to the opening of traffic on the BCL in 2023, at least 10 thousand cars will stop going to the streets of the city every day. This will lead to a decrease in emissions of pollutants by 885.5 tons per year, and carbon dioxide – by 20.9 thousand tons per year.
