Railway transport is being integrated into the general network of the city. Passengers can travel by bus, metro and train using a single ticket.
The fourth Moscow Central Diameter (MCD) will unite several railway lines. Told about it Sergei Sobyaninin an interview with the program “Our City” on the TV channel “Russia 1”.
“A unique project in general for Moscow. It connects all the train stations in the city. MCD-4 from the Kiev direction goes along the Belorusskaya branch and then goes to the Gorky direction, ”the Moscow Mayor explained.
The city pays special attention to projects for the development of railway transport. Comfortable stations with escalators, ticket offices, awnings, cafes, shops and other infrastructure are being built in the capital. In addition, the rolling stock of the railway communication is being updated.
According to Sergei Sobyanin, an important part of development is a unified tariff system, when Muscovites travel around the city with one ticket.
“Today, for us, projects related to the development of railway transport are of the same priority as the metro. In fact, this is an overground metro, it should not differ in any way from the metro. The rolling stock itself, if you look at MCD-1, we have almost completely replaced it, it is new. In terms of its quality, it is not inferior to the metro. And the whole tariff system – when you enter the MCD, you continue to move around the city with a single ticket, without paying for each trip separately, ”said the Moscow Mayor.
The creation of MCD-4 “Kievsko-Gorkovsky” is the largest project in the field of railway construction. There will be 39 stops on a diameter of 86 kilometers. The terminal will be the Aprelevka of the Kiev direction of the Moscow Railway and the Zheleznodorozhny of the Gorky direction. From 18 stations it will be possible to change trains to metro stations, the Moscow Central Circle and other MCDs.
Modern comfortable trains will run at intervals of up to five to six minutes during peak hours and without daily breaks.
The opening of traffic on MCD-4 will improve the transport situation in 23 districts of the capital with a population of more than 2.5 million people. Residents of Aprelevka, Reutov, Balashikha, Zheleznodorozhny and other nearby settlements will be able to get to Moscow faster. Travel time for residents of the Moscow region will be reduced by 13 percent, and for Muscovites – by 38 percent.
Due to the redistribution of passenger flows sections of eight metro lines will be unloaded: Ring, Zamoskvoretskaya, Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya, Filevskaya, Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya, Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya, Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya and Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya.
