The accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant occurred 35 years ago.

On the territory of Russia, four settlements of the Krasnogorsk district of the Bryansk region fell into the exclusion zone: Barsuki, Progress, Knyazevshchina, Nizhnyaya Melnitsa. Currently, these settlements have been abolished.

Of course, the radiation situation in the affected areas is improving. At present, the number of territories located in the zones of radioactive contamination has been halved.

Today, liquidators of that large-scale tragedy are working in the department, which in an instant changed the usual way of life of millions of people. Forever in our hearts gratitude for the feat of the liquidators of the accident, who showed remarkable heroism and courage.

EMERCOM of Russia equips the responding units with modern models of special equipment, personal protective equipment and devices for conducting radiation reconnaissance and dosimetric control.

In 2020 alone, more than 10 thousand units of the latest special equipment and means of radiation, chemical and biological protection were delivered to the EMERCOM divisions of Russia. Some of them are actively used to carry out special treatment of socially significant objects and transport infrastructure during the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.

Modern samples of equipment for degassing, decontamination and disinfection were developed by order of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. These are complex points and mobile complexes for sanitary and special treatment.

The Chernobyl disaster for all mankind is a reminder that the cost of mistakes and omissions in ensuring the safety of nuclear power plants is extremely high. It is necessary to strictly follow the safety requirements during their creation and operation.
