The issues of adaptation of the national economy to the introduction of transboundary carbon regulation planned by the European Union were discussed.

It is proposed to accelerate the development and adoption of a strategy for the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation with a low level of greenhouse gas emissions until 2050.

They also considered proposals for the accelerated modernization of the technological base at the country’s enterprises to ensure economic growth without increasing CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions, as well as to create economic preferences for organizations that successfully reduce the carbon intensity of their products.

It was emphasized that reducing the level of greenhouse gas emissions is a priority for the Russian Federation, regardless of the introduction by the European Union of transboundary carbon regulation, since Russia, like other countries, is facing the negative consequences of climate change and has taken commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the Paris Agreement.
