The Moscow government will assist in holding the Konstantin Eremenko Cup of Legends this year. The resolution on the allocation of funds from the reserve fund for these purposes was signed at a meeting of the Presidium of the Moscow Government Sergei Sobyanin

In September 2021, at the Irina Viner-Usmanova Gymnastics Palace at the Luzhniki sports complex, the annual international football tournament for veterans (over 35 years old) “Konstantin Eremenko Legends Cup” will take place.

The first such tournament was held in 2009 at the Megasport Ice Palace, since 2010 it has been held with the support of the Moscow Government. The Cup of Legends was named after one of the leaders of the Russian national team and the world mini-football star Konstantin Eremenko.

Since 2020, seven national teams and a team of stars have taken part in the tournament. They are divided into two groups by the draw method, after the group stage there are four games in which the winners of the prizes are determined.

Each team consists of five field players and a goalkeeper. To make the game more spectacular and dynamic, fights are conducted using boards that exclude outs.

Over the 13 years of the existence of the Cup of Legends, the players of the Russian national team Dmitry Alenichev, Andrey Arshavin, Dmitry Bulykin, Konstantin Zyryanov, Valery Karpin, Andrey Karyaka and many others have taken part in the tournament. In addition, the event was attended by world football stars Aldair and Serginho (Brazil), Fredi Bobich, Tim Wiese, Kevin Kuranyi, Jens Lehmann, Oliver Neuville (Germany) and others.

Legendary football players Eusebio (Portugal), Ruud Gullit (Holland), Bebeto (Brazil) and Igor Belanov (USSR, Ukraine), as well as Zoya Bubukina (widow of Valentin Bubukin), Valentina Yashina (widow of Lev Yashin), Elena Bobrova (widow of Vsevolod Bobrov) and Lidia Ivanova (widow of Valentin Ivanov).

One of the mottos of the tournament is “Continuity of generations”. It is based on the desire to maintain a bond between young people and football veterans, as well as to instill a love of football through the example of outstanding players. Within the framework of the Cup of Legends, the organizers honor the veterans of national football, distribute free tickets to pupils of children’s and youth football schools, and conduct master classes for children from social institutions.
