An underground pedestrian crossing over the tracks of the Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-2) will appear in the area of ​​the 1st Tushinsky passage. Construction will begin in May. This was told by the head of the capital Construction Department Rafik Zagrutdinov

“In May we plan to start construction of an underground pedestrian crossing under the MCD-2 railway tracks in the area of ​​possession 19 in the 1st Tushinsky passage. During the work, new engineering communications will be rebuilt and transferred, and the area around will be landscaped. Construction is to be completed in May 2022, ”the head of the department said.

The contractor will be selected through a competition with limited participation, it will be held in an online format. Applications for participation are accepted until May 17. The winner will have to complete construction within a year.

The length of the tunnel part of the crossing will be 61 meters, width – four meters. Two staircases with overhead wheelchair ramps and two elevators for people with limited mobility will be equipped. The walls of the tunnel, staircases and parapets will be faced with ceramic granite tiles. The steps and the floor will be laid with natural heat-treated granite slabs.

Thanks to the new crossing, residents and guests of the capital will be able to safely cross the railroad tracks. It will also become easier to get to the school and Polytechnic College No. 47 named after V.G. Fedorov.

Rafik Zagrutdinov added that this year it is planned to start the construction of three pedestrian crossings across the MCD-2 tracks.
