Meeting with deputies of the United Russia faction in the State Duma

We are meeting on the eve of the Government’s annual report to the State Duma. A good tradition has developed between the Government and the State Duma, the deputies – to prepare for this event, so to speak, to synchronize watches, to discuss the current legislative agenda.

We also have to assess how the joint work has been established to fulfill the instructions that the President gave in his Address to the Federal Assembly quite recently. There is a whole set of issues that will require our close interaction – support for families with children, development of regions, promotion of large infrastructure projects, as well as a number of other important topics for people.

The United Russia faction in the State Duma is not just the largest association of deputies, or, as is often said, a constitutional majority. Your faction provides reliable support to us in key issues that are very important for the development of our country. When preparing balanced, thoughtful initiatives. And in the most difficult situations, as was the case last year, in the acute phase of the spread of coronavirus infection. During this difficult period, you took responsibility for developing solutions that ultimately helped us to survive the most acute part of the pandemic, to cope with a very large volume of tasks. This is such a vivid, good example. It seems to me that this practice should be continued. I want to thank you all for such support.

We have various formats of cooperation. These are parliamentary hours for ministers, committee meetings, meetings with factions. There are also new formats for joint work of the Government and Parliament, which are enshrined in the Constitution.

It seems to me that in this regard, the decision that we, dear Vyacheslav Viktorovich (Volodin), made at our meeting in February, has shown itself very well: so that, on the eve of the report, not only me, but also the ministers and deputy prime ministers hold appropriate meetings with the committees of the State Duma. All this has been implemented to date. I consider effective work within the Council of Legislators.

Thank you for inviting Tatyana Alekseevna (Golikova) and Dmitry Yuryevich Grigorenko. They told me what a busy agenda you had yesterday. Of course, the results of this meeting will become part of our current agenda and the basis of our, I hope, successful joint activities.

Viacheslav Viktorovich (Volodin), you have the floor.

To be continued…
