Committee for public relations and youth policy of the city of Moscow

All volunteers are provided with food, equipment and personal protective equipment.

Since its inception, over four thousand volunteers have joined the Vaccination Helpers campaign. Since January 18, they have been helping mobile medical teams who vaccinate Muscovites against coronavirus.

The volunteers include people of different professions and ages. Doctors are assisted by teachers, engineers, logisticians, economists, accountants and many others. Anyone aged 16 to 64 can participate in the action.

“Volunteers help the townspeople in large shopping centers to find their way around, answer their questions and support medical workers. Volunteers have already devoted almost 25 thousand hours to supporting residents of the city and doctors at the Vaccination Helpers campaign. Most of the volunteers are students and schoolchildren, 53 educational organizations of the city took part in the action. But there are also “silver” volunteers, ”said Dmitry Pokrovsky, director of the Mosvolonter center.

Now the participants of the action help at two sites – in GUM and the Depo food mall. 22 volunteers come to support Muscovites every day. It is easy to recognize them: the volunteers are dressed in lilac jackets with the Moscow Volunteers print or white and orange sweatshirts with the inscription #WeVrete. Each of the volunteers participating in the action undergoes a mandatory briefing on the tasks of the volunteer at the site, etiquette of communicating with the townspeople and the stages of vaccination.

At their sites, the protesters help residents navigate and find a vaccination point, remind them of social distance and the use of masks, and suggest how to fill out certificates of COVID-19 vaccination. Volunteers also help staff at public service centers distribute vaccination applications and help older residents fill out questionnaires.

One of the participants of the action is the “silver” volunteer Nadezhda Astakhova. She decided to join the campaign “Vaccination Helpers” after she herself came to GUM to get vaccinated and saw the familiar faces of the volunteers. Five days after receiving the first component of the coronavirus vaccine, Nadezhda volunteered.

“When I came as a patient, I liked how everything was organized in the points of the mobile medical teams. Social distancing and all security measures introduced in connection with the pandemic were respected. And the volunteers were very friendly and attentive, I especially remember how the team leader asked about my condition when I was in the break room. And I wanted to become a part of this kind team and take care of other Muscovites in the same way as these guys helped me, ”she said.

On April 21, Nadezhda received the second component of the vaccine and is about to return to volunteering.

In order to become a participant of the “Vaccination Helpers” action, you need to submit an application on the website “Mosvolontera”… All volunteers are provided with food, equipment and personal protective equipment, and distribution to the points takes place taking into account the wishes of the volunteers themselves.
