The delegation of the Northern Fleet, led by the assistant to the fleet commander – chief of physical training and sports of the Northern Fleet, Colonel Pavel Koshkarev, took part in the celebrations dedicated to the memory of Admiral Arseniy Golovko, who commanded the Northern Fleet without fail during the Great Patriotic War. In the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria – the city of Nalchik – together with the head of the republic Kazbek Kokov, the North Sea residents planted 30 lindens in a park named after the famous admiral, a native of these places.

After planting the trees, the event participants laid flowers at the monument to Admiral Golovko, erected last year in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.

The North Sea warriors arrived in Nalchik to participate in the final tournament of the Russian rugby-7 championship. In the competition, the team of the Northern Fleet took 7th place out of 16, having won against the national teams of the Kaliningrad region, Novosibirsk and Omsk.

The memory of Admiral Arseny Grigorievich Golovko is carefully kept in the Northern Fleet. A separate exposition is dedicated to him in the Naval Museum of the Fleet; one of the streets in the central part of the city of Severomorsk, the main base of the Northern Fleet, is named after him. The name “Admiral Golovko” has been assigned to the project 22350 frigate under construction at the Severnaya Verf in St. Petersburg, which is to become the first carrier of sea-based hypersonic missile weapons and to replenish the Northern Fleet in the coming years.
