Moscow Drama Theater “Modern”

Theater “Modern” presents a performance“Marriage”directed by Yuri Grymov. He combined three works of Russian classics at once in his production. The author decided to reflect on what Gogol’s “Marriage”, Chekhov’s “Proposal” and Ostrovsky’s “The Marriage of Balzaminov” have in common, in addition to the theme of marriage. In each of these works, people are ruled not by love, but solely by the search for their own benefit. Someone marries from global loneliness, another needs only money, a third wants to brag about a young wife in society, and someone else is encouraged to create a family by friends. Having preserved the original author’s text of these plays, Yuri Grymov transferred the eternal plots to the present day, with irony showing the vices and needs of the modern world.

The main role in the play is played by Lolita Milyavskaya.
