The first round of negotiations on the planning of the joint Russian-Lao military exercise “Laros-2021” took place via video link from the headquarters of the Eastern Military District in Khabarovsk.

The event was held under the leadership of the deputy commander of the military district, Lieutenant-General Sergei Mikhailovich Sevryukov and the head of the international military cooperation department, Colonel Ivan Stepanovich Taraev. Representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Laos took part in the conference on behalf of the Lao side.

During the talks, the Russian and Lao parties agreed on the topic, timing and venue of the upcoming exercise, medical and logistical support, and the procedure for moving Lao contingent units to and from Russia.

In addition, representatives of the command of the Air Defense Forces and the Armed Forces of Laos will work out a plan of cultural and leisure activities during further planning conferences.

The joint Russian-Laotian military exercise is aimed at combating international terrorism. During the exercise, the military personnel of the two countries, using various tactics, eliminate conditional illegal armed formations. The exercise is scheduled for August this year. For the first time, this exercise of tank units will be held on the territory of Russia.
