On May 1, the Tula Rescue Center turns 56 years old. The history of the center begins in 1965, when 451 separate mechanized regiment of the Civil Defense was formed. The settlement of Kurakovo in the Tula region became the point of permanent deployment of the regiment.
Today more than 300 people work in the unit. The division carries out work to protect the population and territories from natural and man-made emergencies. The center’s specialists carry out pyrotechnic work, dog work, as well as radiation, chemical and bacteriological reconnaissance. Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the center has been regularly involved in special treatment of social and transport infrastructure facilities.
Over the years of its existence, the rescue unit has taken part in a variety of rescue, humanitarian and other work. In 1983-1984, the pyrotechnics of the center neutralized and destroyed more than 500 explosive objects, from the bottom of 312 bombs. In 1995, the personnel took part in the elimination of the consequences of the earthquake in the city of Neftegorsk on Sakhalin. The center’s air mobile group was repeatedly involved in emergency rescue operations to eliminate the consequences of large floods, including in 2012 in Krymsk, Krasnodar Territory, and in 2019 in Tulun, Irkutsk Region.
