In the Astrakhan region, at the Ashuluk training ground, an all-army stage of the field training competition among the crews of anti-aircraft missile forces “Keys to the Sky – 2021” took place.

It was attended by 15 teams, including the air defense-missile defense formation of the Aerospace Forces, the air force and air defense formation of military districts and air defense formations of the navy.

Competitions in Ashuluk were held in 2 nominations. As part of the first, medium and long-range anti-aircraft missile divisions competed – the S-300PM2 air defense system and the S-400 air defense system. The second nomination united divisions of short-range air defense systems – Pantsir-S air defense missile systems.

During the final competitions, the contestants had to conduct an anti-aircraft battle, repel the air raid of the imaginary enemy and perform practical launches at targets denoting aerodynamic and ballistic targets, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and missile armament of the operational-tactical and strategic aviation of the imaginary enemy.

In total, the participants in the competition carried out more than 50 combat launches of anti-aircraft guided missiles. In addition, during the competition, teams competed in several disciplines, including loading launchers, driving combat vehicles, folding and deploying equipment at a time, overcoming contaminated areas and others.

The final standings were held in two nominations. Among the combat calculations of medium and long-range systems, the main prize was awarded to the commander of the anti-aircraft missile regiment of the air defense forces of the Baltic Fleet, Guard Colonel Konstantin Makhrov. Silver and bronze awards were won by the teams of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Western and Central Military Districts, respectively. In the nomination of the Pantsir-S air defense missile system, the main prize was awarded to the combat crew of the Air Force and Air Defense Combine of the Western Military District. The 2nd and 3rd places were taken by teams from the Central and Eastern districts.
