On the eve of the celebration of the Great Victory Day, the Ivanovo paratroopers together with the public organization “Union of Russian Paratroopers” visited the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Guards Colonel Vyacheslav Ivanovich Panin.

Vyacheslav Ivanovich was drafted into the Soviet Army at the age of 17 in 1943 and sent for training in the city of Shuya to a reserve rifle regiment of sergeants.

At the end of 6 months of training, he was awarded the military rank of junior sergeant, after which he was sent to Poland and was appointed head of the radio station of the 265th Guards Mortar Regiment. He participated in the liberation of Warsaw from the Nazi invaders and reached Berlin, where he was wounded in the head.

At the end of the war, he remained on long-term service in Berlin as a soldier with combat experience. He was demobilized only in 1950, after which, having worked for two years in the national economy, he entered the Vilnius officers’ school, and then studied at the Saratov military school.

He served in various command positions in the Far East, in Leningrad and other cities of the Soviet Union. Retired at the age of 55.

During the event, the warriors of the “winged guard” congratulated the veteran on the upcoming Victory Day and presented him with gifts.

In conclusion, the military band of the Ivanovo Guards Parachute Regiment gave a concert right in the courtyard of the war veteran and sang songs of the war years.
