Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, took part in the Easter Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky, located in the building of the Main Admiralty in St. Petersburg

Together with the commander-in-chief, members of the Military Council of the Navy, officers of the Main Command of the Navy, members of their families and cadets of the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Navy “Naval Academy” took part in the prayer service.

“The temple in the building of the Admiralty is an object of historical heritage. The significance of the Admiralty Cathedral – topographically the central cathedral of St. Petersburg – lies in the fact that it was a special temple of Russian naval glory. All the ships of the Russian fleet, when laid down and launched, were consecrated near the Admiralty Church by its abbot, and here the ships began their long voyage. The Russian Orthodox Church and the Navy have common sacred traditions. We well remember those times when naval ship priests raised the morale of ship crews to immeasurable heights. It is no coincidence that such a slogan always existed and was relevant – “God and the St. Andrew’s flag are with us.” This was a parting word from the commander to the ship’s crew before the battle, ”noted the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, after the event.

As noted by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, “on the eve of about 500 servicemen of the Joint Training Center of the Navy, the Leningrad Naval Base, structural units of the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Navy, veterans of the Navy took part in the meeting of the Holy Fire and the Easter service at the Kronstadt Naval Cathedral.”
