More than 650 million rubles will be allocated for the development of social and transport infrastructure in Karelia. This order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Funding will be directed to the creation of a new sports complex for children and youth schools and a histological laboratory in Petrozavodsk. In addition, the funds will be used to build a bridge across the Vorsunsalmi strait in the city of Sortavala, to reconstruct the Petrozavodsk-Suoyarvi highway and to modernize the bridge on the Kola highway.

“These objects are important both for the residents of the region and for tourists. And the opportunity to travel comfortably on roads and repaired bridges will attract many travelers to these places, ”Mikhail Mishustin noted. at the meeting of the Government on April 27.

Karelia is one of the regions with a difficult socio-economic situation. For such territories, individual development programs are provided, taking into account their strengths and weaknesses, as well as additional support from the federal budget.

Mikhail Mishustin visited Karelia in the end of January. He met with businessmen, visited the Emergency Hospital of Petrozavodsk, and examined the Solomensky Sawmill. As a result of the trip, a set of instructions was formed aimed at solving urgent problems of the region, including the development of the tourism industry, increasing the availability of medical care, and removing barriers to doing business.
