A solemn ceremony was held in Saratov to unveil a memorial plaque in memory of the officers, cadets and servicemen of the Saratov Higher Military Engineering School of Chemical Protection who took part in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986-1990.

The board was opened on the territory of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, where the school was located until it was closed in 2009.

The ceremony was attended by veterans – “Chernobyl victims”, representatives of the government of the Saratov region, the clergy, the Saratov regional branches of the All-Union All-Union Organization of Organizations “Combat Brotherhood” and the Regional Public Organization “Chernobyl Union”, cadets and educators of the Saratov Cadet Boarding School No. 2 named after V. V. Talalikhin, as well as employees of the military commissariat of the region, including the liquidator of the Chernobyl accident, reserve lieutenant colonel Sergei Kuznetsov, who was awarded the medal “For saving the dead”.

In conclusion, the ceremony participants laid flowers at the monument to the warriors-chemists.
