Engineering and sapper groups of the humanitarian demining unit of the Russian peacekeeping contingent continue to clear the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh from mine danger and explosive objects.

Currently, Russian servicemen are actively searching for explosives on the outskirts of the city of Mardakert. Artillery positions were located here during the hostilities. At the moment, local residents are afraid to carry out work on the nearby farmland until a complete cleaning of the area is carried out.

In April – early May, more than 200 artillery shells and explosive objects were found and neutralized by Russian sappers on the territory of the Mardakert region.

In total, since November 23, 2020 in Nagorno-Karabakh, the servicemen of the humanitarian demining unit of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have cleared 2,064 hectares of territory, 632 kilometers of roads from unexploded ordnance from unexploded ordnance, 632 kilometers of roads, 1,733 buildings have been checked, including 30 socially significant objects, 25,603 explosive objects have been found and neutralized.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.

A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation has been deployed to control the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The core of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is made up of units of the 15th separate motorized rifle brigade (peacekeeping) of the Central Military District.
