Three ceremonial squads of missile forces and artillery of the Central Military District and the combined military band of the Samara garrison held a mini-parade for the 96-year-old participant of the Great Patriotic War, holder of the medal “For Courage”, gunner of the legendary Katyusha multiple launch rocket system Lev Mikhailovich Atmeneev.

About 200 servicemen came to the frontline soldier’s house in the village of Samarsky, Volzhsky District, to congratulate the veteran artilleryman on the upcoming Victory Day. Servicemen in honor of Lev Atmeneev recited three times “Glory” and sang the song “Katyusha”. The veteran sang along and could not hold back his tears. After that the combined orchestra performed the melody of the song “Victory Day” for the veteran. The parade ended with a solemn march. The servicemen marched in front of the veteran as at the Victory Parade – in a line of 8 people.

Atmeneev Lev Mikhailovich was born on June 8, 1924 in the Shentalinsky district of the Kuibyshev region (now the Samara region). Was drafted into the Red Army on August 10, 1941. Was on the South-Western and Belorussian fronts. He passed his entire service as a gunner of the Katyusha multiple launch rocket system. I got surrounded. During the war years he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree, the medal “For Courage” and other medals.
