In the House of A.F. Losev will give a lecture on the architecture of the Hellenistic period. The meeting will be hosted by Alexander Chartilidi, member of the Union of Architects of the USSR, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Society of Greeks from 1996 to 2002. He begins his story with Alexandria, the informal center of the Hellenistic world. Wide streets lined with colonnades and lined with magnificent public buildings became the standard of urban planning practice for the next 500 years. Alexandria shaped Palmyra, Cyrene and other cities, but they also have their own unique architectural features.
