The combat crews of the S-300 Favorit anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) division repulsed an enemy air strike on the 201st military base, hitting about 20 air targets during the exercise, which ended in Tajikistan.

Air defense specialists discovered and identified more than 40 aerial objects, about 20 of which did not respond to requests from the identification system. To destroy air targets imitating the flight of fighters and cruise missiles of the “enemy”, the S-300 air defense systems were alerted and put on alert. Russian “Favorites” practiced seizure and escort of air attack weapons, carried out electronic launches and conditionally destroyed missiles and aircraft of the “enemy” on the distant approaches to guarded military facilities. As a result of the exercise, the combat crews of the S-300 hit 100% of the air targets, which flew in from various directions and in the entire range of altitudes.

In addition, as part of a tactical exercise, in which about 200 servicemen were involved, the combat crews worked out the standards for reloading the S-300 air defense system, equipping combat positions, the security and defense units of the 201st military base repulsed the attack of conditional sabotage and reconnaissance groups on the deployment areas divisions.

The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside its borders. Located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. According to the agreement signed in October 2012, the connection will be in Tajikistan until 2042.
