Resolution of May 27, 2021 No. 798

Russian universities will have educational programs for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the profile of “Artificial Intelligence”. The rules for granting grants for their development were approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Funding will be able to receive federal universities based on the results of a competitive selection, which will be held by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. It is assumed that with the help of state support, 10 bachelor’s and 40 master’s programs will be created.

In addition, part of the grant is allowed to be used to conduct advanced training courses for teachers who will teach students in new programs. Thus, more than 3.3 thousand people will be able to improve their qualifications.

The federal budget for the next three years has already provided more than 600 million rubles for these purposes. The work is carried out within the framework of the federal project “Artificial Intelligence”, which is included in the national program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”.
