The works will take place on Berezhkovskaya, Luzhnetskaya, Prechistenskaya and Kremlin embankments, as well as on the Taras Shevchenko embankment.

Repair of five Moscow embankments will be carried out until mid-November. Workers will update the seams of their granite cladding, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Utilities and Improvement Peter Biryukov

“Currently, repairs are underway on the Berezhkovskaya embankment and the Taras Shevchenko embankment, in the near future we will start work on the Luzhnetskaya embankment, – said Pyotr Biryukov. – Prechistenskaya and Kremlin embankments are also on the list of objects this year. In total, we will repair more than 240 thousand running meters of seams. “

According to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow, the seams of the embankments are sewn every five years. “Such repairs are necessary to increase the service life of structures, because over time the material of the seams collapses, most often due to the fact that grass begins to grow in them,” said Pyotr Biryukov. “Destruction can lead to displacement of granite slabs and even their fallout.”

The repair of the embankments begins with sandblasting the stone, then the specialists proceed directly to the jointing of the joints between the slabs. They are cleaned of the old filler, washed, and then filled with polymer-cement material and rubbed with a waterproof solution.

“For the townspeople, these works are practically invisible, because such repairs do not require any overlaps,” the deputy mayor added. “Scaffolding is installed on the water side and moved from site to site.”

In addition, in 2021 undergo a comprehensive improvement several Moscow embankments. The embankments of the Balchug Islands are being put in order: Sofiyskaya, Raushskaya, Sadovnicheskaya and Kosmodamianskaya, as well as the adjacent Sadovnicheskaya Street, Komissariatskiy, Faleevskiy and Raushskiy lanes. Over the past 10 years, 32 embankments have been improved in the capital. Thanks to this, a single pedestrian route from the Moscow City business center to Taganskaya Square with a total length of 19 kilometers has appeared in the historical part of the city.
