During the meeting, the development of perinatal medicine in Russia was discussed.
Chairman of the Government of Russia Mikhail Mishustin visited the National Medical Research Center (NMRC) of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after Academician V.I. Kulakov. The visit is timed to celebrate the Children’s Day. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova, Minister of Health of Russia Mikhail Murashko and Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin… The Russian Prime Minister examined the center and conducted meetingwith members of the Government of Russia and medical workers, where they discussed the prospects for the development of children’s medical care.
“To a large extent, thanks to the specialists of perinatal centers, even in the year of the pandemic, we managed to significantly reduce infant mortality,” noted Mikhail Mishustin. – Now the figure is two times lower than 15 years ago. Last year alone, we managed to save 12 percent more babies’ lives than a year earlier, which is hundreds of little kids. ”
More than 2.5 thousand doctors annually improve their qualifications and master modern techniques at the NMRC named after Kulakov. In addition, the center’s specialists advise colleagues from all over Russia. Thanks to the capabilities of telemedicine, they are in constant communication with almost a hundred perinatal centers in all regions.
“Now we are in the fourth year of the Decade of Childhood, which is being held at the initiative of the President of Russia. The plan of its main activities approved by the Government includes a whole block of measures aimed at strengthening the health of children, and the main priority here is the timely detection of diseases and their treatment at an early stage. For this, of course, it is necessary to expand neonatal screening, ”said the Prime Minister of Russia.
National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after Academician V.I. Kulakov is a multidisciplinary scientific and clinical complex, which includes 61 clinical departments and 25 scientific and clinical laboratories. More than 2800 employees work here, including academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences and professors.
The center is equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment equipment, which makes it possible not only to provide high-tech medical care, but also to conduct fundamental scientific research. The whole range of diagnostic tests is carried out here: ultrasound, X-ray, computed tomography, MRI and so on.
The center has 583 beds, including 235 obstetric beds, 100 neonatal beds, 147 gynecological beds. Last year, more than nine thousand deliveries were received in clinical departments, over 22 thousand surgical operations were performed, of which 2092 were within the framework of high-tech care, 1775 were within the framework of clinical approbation. In addition, doctors performed 137 intrauterine surgeries and more than 400 surgeries for newborn babies.
