Visit to the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after Academician V. I. Kulakov

FSBI National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after Academician VI Kulakov is a multidisciplinary scientific and clinical complex. Its structure includes 61 clinical divisions and 25 scientific and clinical laboratories, in which more than 2800 employees work, including 4 Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 1 Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and 28 professors. Along with 210 researchers, over 400 doctors in 50 specialties participate in the treatment process.

The capacity of the center is 583 beds, including 235 obstetric beds, 100 neonatal beds, 147 gynecological beds.

In 2020, the clinical departments of the center received more than 9 thousand deliveries, performed more than 22 thousand surgical operations, of which 2092 were within the framework of high-tech care, and 1775 were within the framework of clinical trials. At the same time, 137 intrauterine surgical interventions and more than 400 surgical operations for newborn children were performed.

The center is equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment equipment, which allows providing both high-tech medical care and fundamental scientific research. The whole range of diagnostic tests is carried out here: ultrasound examinations, X-ray examinations, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography, laboratory tests, including molecular genetic diagnostics.

The tradition of inviting little patients who have been provided with high-tech care during the neonatal period to the FSBI NMITs AGP named after VI Kulakov ”on Children’s Day was founded on June 1, 2010. Since then, almost every year, children of 3–12 years old who were born with very low and extremely low body weight, as well as children operated on for congenital malformations during the neonatal period, have come to visit doctors and nurses.
