On June 1, 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation A.A. Pankin received A. Bjerde, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, who is on a visit to Moscow.

During the conversation, the current state and prospects of Russia’s interaction with the World Bank Group were discussed, in particular, in countering global challenges in the field of sustainable development, helping to restore economic growth in countries and regions affected by the novel coronavirus infection COVID-19 pandemic. The importance of implementing the efforts of the World Bank Group in these areas on a depoliticized basis, taking into account specific needs and differing conditions in individual countries, including the possibility of joint project activities with the involvement of regional development institutions and advanced Russian expertise, is highlighted.
