A naval strike group of the Northern Fleet, consisting of two missile cruisers, deployed in the Barents Sea to work out planned combat training tasks as part of the summer training period that started today in the Russian Armed Forces.

The exit of the missile cruisers from the permanent basing point was ensured by two naval sweeping groups. The sea minesweeper “Vladimir Gumanenko”, the base minesweepers “Machinist”, “Yelnya”, “Solovetsky Yunga” and “Yadrin” worked out actions to search for mines while escorting surface ships of boats to combat training ranges in the Barents Sea, using the entire complex of anti-mine weapons – hydroacoustic search stations for anchor and bottom mines and various types of trawls.

The heavy nuclear missile cruiser Peter the Great and the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov left for the Barents Sea as part of the ship’s strike group.

The crews of the missile cruisers will work out the marching organization of the service for several days, check weapons and technical equipment in the Barents Sea, and practice joint maneuvering. The ships will carry out exercises on damage control on the move and at anchorage, on receiving helicopters, as well as on organizing all types of defense.

In the future, the crews of the missile cruisers will conduct an exercise to counter the naval grouping of the imaginary enemy. During the exercise, a number of test combat exercises will be performed using practical weapons.
