The convicts attached red ribbons to each other’s clothes as a sign of their involvement in a global problem, a symbol of solidarity with those who were personally affected by the AIDS epidemic: with HIV-infected and AIDS patients, with their families and friends.
On the territory of the Russian Federation, for the ninth time, the All-Russian Action “Stop HIV / AIDS” is being held, timed to coincide with the World Day of Remembrance for People Who Died of AIDS. As part of this action, psychological and educational events were held for women undergoing rehabilitation according to the Departmental program in the unit of social and psychological work.
The psychologists of the institution developed and conducted a discussion and training session on the problem of HIV prevention. At the beginning of the lesson, the inmates attached red ribbons to each other’s clothes, as a sign of their involvement in a global problem, a symbol of solidarity with those who were personally affected by the AIDS epidemic: with HIV-infected and AIDS patients, with their families and friends.
During the discussion, the inmates discussed the main ways of contracting HIV, preventive measures, ways to maintain the health of HIV-infected people in a correctional institution.
The event ended with the game “Chain Reaction”, which helped the convicts to get to know the factors of the rapid spread of HIV infection.
According to the staff of the psychological laboratory of the institution, the prevention of HIV infection, a tolerant attitude towards people infected with HIV is one of the priority directions in the rehabilitation of drug addicted women, since HIV is often a concomitant disease in drug addicts.
