First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov took part in the plenary session of the VI Russian Forum of Small and Medium Enterprises. Discussion topic – “Digital services for business”.

Andrey Belousov appreciated the role of digitalization in increasing the transparency of SMEs.

“In Russia, 70% of small and medium-sized businesses are trade, construction, real estate, consumer services and road transport. Now digitalization is imminent for all of this. What will happen to these sectors, which live in the usual forms of doing business, with the usual ways of avoiding the all-seeing eye of the state in order to increase their efficiency? Are they ready for the electronic formats offensive? Digitalization is always a way out of the shadows. Once a company goes digital, it becomes transparent to everyone. What will happen to the company if the business processes that it used become impossible? Speaking about digitalization, we must raise such questions, ”said Andrei Belousov.

The event discussed the state strategy for the development of digital services for entrepreneurs. New tools were presented to expand access of SMEs to financial resources, the capabilities of the digital platform of the SME Corporation, as well as regional experience of interacting with small businesses using digital tools.

“Digitalization as a new environment in which we have to live, work and learn to make money is inevitable. The leaders in the formation of this environment are large structures: digital companies, banks, the Central Bank, Russian Post, Russian Railways, Rosseti. Of course, the Federal Tax Service. What should a small business do in this situation? You need to learn to work with these structures. This is our applied task. We need to offer something, to create tools and resources for training, ”Andrei Belousov emphasized.

The plenary session was attended by General Director of Russian Post JSC Maxim Akimov, Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov, Head of the Federal Tax Service Daniil Egorov, General Director of JSC SME Corporation Alexander Isaevich, Chairman of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina, Chairman of VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov and others.

The SME Forum is held on the starting day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum – 2021. The event traditionally discusses the current state of small and medium-sized businesses and measures to increase its role in the Russian economy.
