The corresponding decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, amending the Fire Safety Regulations, was signed on May 21.

The document establishes the criteria for identifying settlements subject to the threat of forest fires and other landscape (natural) fires. So, a distance of less than 50 meters to a forest or thickets of reeds, reeds is considered dangerous for a settlement. The exception is the close proximity to field and forest protection plantations, reclamation protective forest plantations, as well as fruit trees and shrubs.

Such settlements will be especially taken into account in the annual development of passports of territories by the beginning of the fire hazardous season. For their safety, local authorities are obliged in advance to carry out special measures and implement primary fire safety measures aimed at reducing the risk of fire crossing from a forest or other landscape.

Decree of the Russian Federation of May 21, 2021 No. 766 “On Amendments to the Fire Regime Regulations in the Russian Federation” will enter into force on September 1 of this year.
