During summer holidays, child safety is directly dependent on adults. Children, neglected by their parents, are in danger everywhere. Their pranks with fire lead to disaster.
According to statistics, all deaths of children in fires, with rare exceptions, occur in housing – in residential apartments and private houses. As a rule, at the time of a fire, minors are at home alone.
Experts say that one of the accompanying factors in the development of a fire is the absence of autonomous detectors in housing. Systematic work on equipping houses of large families with them has been carried out since 2018. To date, over 470 thousand fire detectors have been installed within the framework of targeted and municipal programs with the participation of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Their operation helped to save nearly 1.8 thousand people, of which more than 900 children.
So, the other day in the city of Toguchin, Novosibirsk region, four children were rescued in a fire. An eight-year-old girl took three children out of a smoky apartment and put out the fire on her own before the firefighters arrived.
In the apartment of a large family, an automatic smoke detector was triggered. This was reported to the telephone of the unified dispatching service of the city of Toguchin.
At the indicated address, the duty crew of the 70th fire and rescue unit of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the Novosibirsk Region promptly departed. At the time of the arrival of the firefighters, smoke was found in the children’s room in one of the apartments of a two-story residential building. The combustion area did not exceed half a meter.
Later it was found out that four small children aged from one to eight years at the time of the fire were alone in the apartment. Left unattended by adults, they played with fire. At some point, a childish prank almost turned into a real tragedy. An eight-year-old girl, not bewildered, took three children out of the smoky apartment to the staircase and independently extinguished the flames with water from the tap.
Earlier in the city of Iskitim, a childish prank with fire led to a fire in an apartment, then three kids were saved by firefighters.
EMERCOM of Russia urges not to leave children alone: left to themselves, they are in danger, curiosity can turn into an irreparable disaster. Matches, lighters, candles should be kept out of the reach of children.
During the summer holidays, the department conducts a number of preventive actions among children. In an entertaining way: contests and quizzes – rescuers and firefighters form personal safety skills in the younger generation, talk about the rules of behavior in dangerous situations.
As a reminder, starting this year, all newly built living quarters and apartment corridors will be equipped with autonomous smoke detectors, regardless of the number of storeys. The corresponding set of rules came into force on March 1.
