The best works of the finalists of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO) competition “The Most Beautiful Country” will decorate the interiors of the Navy ships and the houses of officers of distant garrisons. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergei Shoigu at a meeting of the jury of the competition.

“For the Ministry of Defense, the competition is also of an applied nature – we place the best photographs of its finalists on an aircraft carrier, submarines, cruisers and frigates,” noted Sergei Shoigu.

According to him, in hospitals, garrisons and officers’ houses every year they are looking forward to new works of the participants of the competition, then the publishing house starts work, which print the best pictures and send them to all military units. “I think Franz Josef Land will be very surprised when they send them photographs taken on the archipelago,” added Sergei Shoigu.

He also noted that the Arctic islands, where the Russian Armed Forces are located, have been cleared and have clean coastlines. According to him, the military pilots admit that it is even difficult for them to fly to the Arctic islands, because on them it is very difficult to indicate the landing strip with any light beacons.

Sergei Shoigu also proposed to establish a competition among the winners of all previous competitions for the 10th anniversary of the “Most Beautiful Country” photo competition. He also put forward the idea of holding regional photography contests in order to identify the finalists on the spot.
