Over 300 servicemen, at the call of the famous Preobrazhensky commandant’s regiment of the Western Military District, for the first time since 2019, said goodbye to the military banner of the unit in the Alexander Garden at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier memorial complex.

Their relatives and friends came to congratulate the servicemen on the completion of their service. Warm words came from the mouths of the veterans. The unit commander, Colonel Sergei Bessonov, presented departmental awards, insignia and valuable gifts to the most distinguished sergeants and soldiers, and also wished them success in life. A number of servicemen have decided to continue their military service and have already signed a contract. They will soon be appointed to military positions.

By tradition, this event took place in the very heart of our Motherland – at the memorial complex “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier” at the Kremlin wall in the Alexander Garden. The right to carry out the ritual of transfer to the reserve in such a memorable and honorable place was granted exclusively to servicemen of the Preobrazhensky regiment of the Western Military District. Each serviceman who was transferred to the reserve was presented with gifts.

The event ended with the laying of wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in memory of the soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War, then the servicemen, who will continue to serve in the Preobrazhensky regiment, saluted their senior comrades, passing a solemn march.
