The reconstruction of 10 cinemas built during the Soviet era is planned to be completed by the end of the year. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Andrey Bochkarev.

“Several years ago, a large-scale reconstruction of 39 former Soviet cinemas began in Moscow at the expense of private funds. On the site of already dilapidated buildings, modern regional centers of attraction for citizens are being created today, ”he noted.

Since the beginning of the project, eight former cinemas have turned into modern centers. One of them was put into operation in May – Sayany… Reconstruction of 22 more cinemas is underway, work on 10 of them is planned to be completed by the end of the year.

The goal of the project is to provide residents of residential areas with high-quality and varied leisure activities within walking distance.

Most of the district centers will continue to operate as cinemas, but their functionality will expand significantly. There will be cafes and restaurants, food halls, entertainment and educational clubs for children, sports studios, areas for master classes, family leisure centers, bookstores, chain supermarkets and points of sale for household goods. Everything will be adapted to the needs of the residents of a particular area.
