June 4 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Vershinin held consultations with the political director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ireland S. Highland in the context of Dublin’s work as a non-permanent member UN Security Council in 2021-2022

A substantive discussion of Russian-Irish cooperation within the UN framework took place. A number of regional topics on the Security Council’s agenda will be touched upon, including the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan, Syrian issues and the tasks of providing humanitarian international assistance to the civilian population in conflict zones.

The parties reaffirmed the mutual commitment of the parties to strengthening the central coordinating role of the UN in international affairs and the disposition to continue a mutually respectful dialogue on the “platform” of the Council.
