The crew of the large diesel-electric submarine “Magadan” of project 636.3 provides the final stage of the ship’s mooring tests. The delivery team of the Admiralty Shipyards located in St. Petersburg is also taking part in this event. After its completion, “Magadan” will enter the factory sea trials, the completion of which is scheduled for the Day of the Navy.

In the course of previous tests, specialists from factory departments and contractors checked most of the ship’s navigation system, communications complex, general ship systems, hydroacoustic complex, control systems, and torpedo-missile weapon systems.

Magadan is the third submarine in the series for the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation. She was launched on March 26, 2021 in a high degree of readiness (91%). At present, the docking of the fourth submarine in the series (Ufa) has begun, and the ship’s hull is being welded.

The construction of a series of submarines for the Pacific Fleet is proceeding in accordance with contractual obligations. The third submarine of the series (“Magadan”) will be transferred to the Russian Navy in November this year. By the end of 2021, it is planned to launch the Ufa ship.

The contract for the construction of the series was signed in September 2016. The first ship, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, was handed over to the Russian Navy on November 25, 2019. The Volkhov submarine, the second in the series, entered the Pacific Fleet on October 24, 2020.
