The six-storey house on Arbat was built in the rational modern style. One of the distinctive features is a three-storey corner balcony. Its windows are framed by a bas-relief with a solemn floral ornament. In the 1930s, under the corner balcony of the second floor, a sign “Strengthening the Defense of the USSR” was installed. To get it, the residents of the house had to pass the standards for air and chemical defense. It was also required that there was a person who could urgently seal the room.

In addition, the house is known for its tenants, among whom were the Soviet physicist and geographer Alexander Kruber and biologist Nikolai Koltsov. After the revolution, the headquarters of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia was located here for a long time.
