In the art gallery of the Studio of military artists named after M.B. Grekov, an anniversary exhibition of paintings by Vasily Kuraksa, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of his birth, has opened in the Patriot Park.
Vasily Kuraksa is a graduate of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of Ilya Glazunov, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, trained in the creative workshops of A.P. and S.P. Tkachevs.
In addition to large-scale plot-thematic works written in the best traditions of the Russian realistic school, Vasily’s favorite subject is landscape-historical painting. Picturesque views of the Motherland are presented at a personal exhibition in the Studio Gallery. Russia, old Russian cities, the spirit of a big country, national traditions, temples, Orthodoxy, love and sensuality – on the artist’s bright and colorful canvases.
The exposition demonstrates V. Kuraksa’s diploma work – “Yuryevets on the Volga”. Arriving in this city, the artist was struck by the dark boundless sky over the city on the banks of the Volga, which stretched in the lowlands between the hills. After this picture, a whole cycle of travels to remote cities that are not part of the Golden Ring of Russia was born, which, on the one hand, does not spare time, and on the other, are not touched by civilization. The artist is also inspired by the old Ples, which makes him fall in love with palaces, untouched by Russian life (the painting “Ples on the Volga” is on display).
The artist lives in Sergiev Posad, loves the city and paints it, observing it both early in the morning and late in the evening.
“Russia has its own history, its own traditions, its own soul, and we must love all this and pass it on to future generations in our paintings,” says the artist Vasily Kuraksa.
Vasily Kuraksa’s works are in museums in Russia, China, Italy, as well as in private collections in Russia, Germany, and the USA. Participated in more than 500 exhibitions in Russia and abroad, including 30 personal in state museums of our country.
