First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov met with the participants of the International Youth Economic Forum. The topic of the meeting was “How the pandemic changed the country’s economy and what to expect in the future.” The event took place as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum – 2021.

“I suggest you relive the past year. I want each of you to visit the place of a person who makes decisions in conditions of total uncertainty, ”Andrei Belousov addressed the participants at the beginning of the meeting.

The interactive format of the event suggested that young entrepreneurs, students and leaders of public organizations could offer their own options for solving the problems faced by the country’s economy during the pandemic. Young people also asked the First Deputy Prime Minister questions about measures to support SMEs, measures to reduce unemployment and inflation.

During the discussion, Andrei Belousov told how the Government was guided when making major economic decisions during the pandemic. He noted the cohesion of the state and business, which made it possible to successfully resist the pandemic.

“For me, this period was remembered primarily by the fact that incredible communications were built. There has never been such interaction with business, banks, and the Central Bank. There was an incredible speed in making and implementing decisions, ”stressed Andrey Belousov.

The First Deputy Prime Minister also explained, due to what economic decisions in Russia it was possible to avoid a second lockdown: “The first is the emphasized support of the population. The second is the transfer of measures of support and responsibility to the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The third is the implementation of sectoral programs that blocked the development of negative trends. “

The International Youth Economic Forum is a platform where young people discuss key economic and social issues with leading Russian and international experts.
