Servicemen of the Russian military base of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in Abkhazia held the Clean Coast action to clean up the coastal sea area from garbage on World Environment Day.

The environmental assault force collected garbage, mainly plastic, from areas with a total length of more than 50 thousand square meters. m of coastal combat training grounds in the Gudauta, Ochamchira and Gulrypsh districts.

The servicemen completed the cleaning of the Black Sea coastline in Abkhazia both on the shore and in the water.

All collected garbage in the water and on the shore was carefully packed, compacted and destroyed in accordance with environmental standards and norms.

This action is carried out regularly by the forces of military personnel and their family members 2 times a year. As a rule, in June, with the beginning of the summer training and swimming season, as well as in October on International Black Sea Day at the end of the swimming season.
