Resolution of June 2, 2021 No. 860

The costs for the construction of two Pevek-Bilibino overhead power transmission lines in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug will be partially financed from the federal budget. The rules for granting such a subsidy were approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The document states that the funds will be used to reimburse the costs of loans taken for the first stage of the construction of the power transmission line. The money for these purposes will come in 2022, the total amount of funding is 2.6 billion rubles.

The construction of a new transmission line with a length of 490.6 km began in December last year. The work is carried out in the permafrost zone, where there are no permanent roads. The construction of the first chain is planned to be completed by the end of 2023.

The creation of a power transmission line was discussed during Mikhail Mishustin’s working trip to the Far East. Following its results, the Prime Minister instructed to resolve issues with the financing of this project.

The infrastructure under construction will provide a reliable energy connection between the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant in Pevek and the city of Bilibino, and will increase the reliability of power supply for consumers of the Chaun-Bilibino power center, which includes large mining companies.
