MIL OSI Translation. Region: Russian Federation –
Official Ottawa continues to support initiatives directed against Russia at various levels, showing inappropriate and counterproductive activity in support of the ultra-nationalist regime in Kiev and Russophobic forces in the Baltic states, baseless accusations of our country of “aggression” against Ukraine, as well as attempts to interfere in internal Russian affairs.
Such actions by the Canadian side, which contributed to the degradation of bilateral relations, negatively affect the prospects for the restoration of a full-fledged interstate dialogue and the establishment of interaction between Russia and Canada as neighbors across the North Pole.
In response to the illegal sanctions imposed by the Canadian government on March 24, 2021 against the citizens of the Russian Federation under the far-fetched pretext of allegedly persecuting Russian citizen A. Navalny, convicted of illegal acts, it was decided to close the entry to Russia on an indefinite basis for the following persons holding Canadian citizenship:
David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada;
Anne Kelly, Chief of the Federal Prison Service of Canada;
Brenda Lucki, Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police;
Marci Surkes, Head of Domestic Policy, Office of the Prime Minister of Canada;
Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Regional Relations, Canada;
Jodi Thomas, Deputy Secretary of National Defense of Canada;
Mike Rouleau, Deputy Chief of Staff for National Defense, Canada;
Brian Brennan, Deputy Commissioner for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police;
Scott Bishop, Rear Admiral, Chief of Intelligence for the Canadian Armed Forces.
The Russian side remains open when and if Ottawa is ready for this, for the development of our relations on the basis of the principles of mutual respect with an emphasis on cooperation in such areas of objectively coinciding interests as the Arctic, regional and business ties. Russia invariably treats the people of Canada with warmth and sympathy, despite the Russophobic sentiments cultivated by part of its political class and some “influence groups”.
