More than 600 mountain training instructors and scouts of mountain motorized rifle brigades of the Southern Military District (YuVO) have started skiing special training at the Terskol training ground in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The training takes place in several stages. The program provides for both individual training of servicemen and practice of actions as part of groups.

At the first stage, the participants will study the features of the structure of snow cover and glaciers, the effect of various weather conditions on the state of snow, as well as safety requirements for skiing in the mountains, the procedure for emergency situations, for example, in the event of an avalanche. In addition, the military will master the procedure for preparing skis and other ski equipment and equipment for use.

At the stage of practical actions, the scouts will study the techniques of skiing on snow and ice using special equipment, methods of climbing the slopes and downhill.

At the final stage of training, the servicemen will make a three-day ascent to a height of about 4 thousand meters in full gear, the weight of which is at least 30 kg. On the march, they will carry out the tasks of comprehensive support during movement, organizing the camp, as well as coordinating group descents on alpine skiing along high-speed and protracted routes with shooting from small arms and practicing combat elements in the mountains.

During practical exercises, each serviceman will be provided with a special beacon sensor, which, in the event of an emergency situation in the mountains, will allow rescue teams to quickly detect a person.
